2027: Anambra prophet raises the alarm over alleged plot against Peter Obi, warns Igbo politicians

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the Spiritual Head of Soul Revival Outreach, Nnewi, Prophet Ikechukwu Uzukwu, on Wednesday raised the alarm over an alleged plot to “get rid of” Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

Prophet Uzukwu, who addressed journalists after the weekly program at his church in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State, urged Obi and his handlers to strengthen security around the candidate.

The cleric said the “powers that be” are afraid of Obi’s growing momentum and popularity among Nigerians, irrespective of tribe and religion.

He also claimed that a proposed Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, allegedly put together by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has disrupted political calculations.

Uzukwu appealed to Igbo political leaders not to sacrifice Obi for what he described as the “carrot” of a vice presidential slot in 2031.

“The carrot they are dangling before Igbo politicians at the moment is the Vice President’s slot in 2031. Interestingly and unfortunately, almost all the high-flying politicians from the East have been separately and individually promised the seat,” he said.

“I expect Igbo politicians to ask the powers that be who they exactly have in mind for the plum job, so that our people will stop sabotaging one another because of the Vice President position.”

The prophet further alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC, has a history of sidelining prominent South-East politicians after using them.

He cited former Anambra governor Senator Chris Ngige, Rochas Okorocha, Orji Uzor Kalu, and Joe Igbokwe as examples.

“Ngige was very popular in Anambra and beyond before he joined the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, which later became APC. Today he has lost that popularity and is no longer relevant even in his own party,” he said.

“Other high-flying politicians from Igboland who pitched their tent with APC are suffering the same fate. I recall warning the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah against joining APC. Today, the rest is history.”

Uzukwu also claimed there is groundwork by the President Bola Tinubu-led government to rig the 2027 general elections, especially in Anambra State. He alleged a deal has been perfected to return APC National Assembly candidates, while APGA would take the State House of Assembly seats.

“In 2023, it is an open secret that Mr Peter Obi won the election. When he was denied his mandate, he went to court and lost to an APC-controlled judiciary. In 2027, Obi should no longer be a boy. He should put mechanisms in place to defend his mandate,” he said.
