Aruoma unveils development agenda for Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency

An aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Chidi Nkem Aruoma, has outlined his vision for the constituency, promising to leverage his business, public service, and international networks to drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment.

Aruoma said his experience in both the private and public sectors has prepared him for legislative responsibilities, stressing that he understands the needs of communities across the three local government areas.

The former President of the Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (UCCIMA) said his years of engagement with local and international business organisations would enable him to attract investment, facilitate partnerships, and create economic opportunities for constituents.

According to him, his roles as Secretary General of the Nigeria Israel Business Forum, Regional Partner of the African-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Co-founder of the Nigeria Bangladesh Business and Technological Forum, Vice President of the Nigeria Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, and Co-founder of Poland-Nigeria Business Future have provided him with networks capable of supporting investment, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship in the constituency.

On education and human capital development, Aruoma said his previous service on the Board of the Abia State Educational Trust Fund, alongside his establishment of the Umuahia Business School and the Royal Film Institute, reflects his commitment to equipping young people with practical skills.

He said he would advocate improved federal technical education, scholarships, and international institutional partnerships to enhance employment opportunities for graduates.

Speaking on infrastructure, the aspirant pointed to his experience as a former Board Member of the Abia State Water and Waste Management Board, saying he would support projects aimed at improving water supply, sanitation, erosion control, and other critical infrastructure across the constituency.

Aruoma also identified the creative industry as a major driver of economic growth, citing his previous roles as Public Relations Officer of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, South East Coordinator of the Nigerian Film Institute, and Founder of the Abia State Theatre Arts Practitioners.

He pledged to pursue the establishment of a federal creative hub in Umuahia and advocate policies that support film production, equipment acquisition, and investment in the creative sector.
