The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged residents to embrace peace, tolerance, dialogue and fellowship as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
Wike, in a message to residents, described the celebration as an opportunity for deep reflection on the virtues of the Prophet’s life and teachings, particularly sacrifice, patience, compassion, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
A statement by the deputy director press, office of the minister, Rabi Umar, said that these values were essential to sustaining unity and harmony in the Federal Capital Territory, which was established as a home for Nigerians of diverse backgrounds.
The Minister also assured residents and visitors of the commitment of the FCT Administration to maintaining safety and security throughout the festive period and beyond.
He called on residents to support security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent crime and keep communities safe.
Wike prayed that the lessons of Eid-el-Maulud would bring peace to homes, progress to communities and prosperity to the FCT and Nigeria.
He wished Muslim faithful and all residents a peaceful and joyous celebration.
The statement reads, “The FCT was built on the foundation of unity, diversity, and tolerance for all Nigerians.
“reflect these values in their daily interactions, stressing the need to embrace dialogue as the preferred means of resolving differences.
“There is the need for us to embrace the true meaning and virtues of sacrifice, patience, tolerance, and fellowship in our daily interactions,” it stated.
