Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Kasim Mohammed, has urged youths across the Federal Capital Territory to unite and place the collective interest of the Territory above personal and political differences.
Mohammed stated this when he received a delegation of the FCT Youths Network on a courtesy visit to his residence in Gwagwalada, on Monday
The delegation briefed the Chairman on the network’s forthcoming leadership election scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Addressing the youths, Mohammed urged them to learn from the political experience of the FCT in 2023, when, he said, disunity contributed to the loss of the Territory’s sole Senate seat.
In a statement by Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity to the council chairman, Muhammad Hassan, warned that allowing differences to divide the youth constituency could weaken their collective voice and diminish their influence in issues affecting the FCT.
The Chairman assured the delegation of his continued support, stressing his readiness to partner with the youth in advancing issues that affect young people across the Territory.
The delegation included the outgoing President of the FCT Youths Network, Umar Makeri Paiko, and the incoming President, Destiny Yamawo.
Mohammed reaffirmed that a united and purposeful youth constituency remains critical to the development and political future of the Federal Capital Territory.
