Two persons have been rescued alive after a section of a residential building collapsed at Kubwa, Abuja, on Friday.
The victims were trapped on the ground floor when part of the building, comprising six blocks of flats, collapsed at about 11:30 a.m.
A statement by Nkechi Isa, Head of Media and Public Relations, FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), said the incident was reported through a distress call at 11:38 a.m., prompting the immediate deployment of rescue personnel to the scene.
The two victims were successfully extricated from the rubble and rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment and are reportedly in stable condition.
Although no fatality was recorded, the collapse caused substantial damage to personal belongings and household items belonging to residents.
Officials of the Department of Development Control and the FCT Police Command also responded to the scene, securing the area and commencing investigations to determine the cause of the collapse.
