As efforts are intensified to sanitize the environments, the Lagos State Government has concluded plans to arrest residents patronising roadside traders.
The government warned that buyers who purchase goods from illegal markets and traders operating on roads, walkways and other unauthorised public spaces would be arrested and prosecuted from next week.
In a release, Government disclosed that the enforcement would target not only traders occupying prohibited spaces but also residents whose patronage sustains the illegal activities.
According to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, who disclosed this on Tuesday at the agency’s headquarters, stressed that the move was part of a renewed strategy to tackle illegal trading, indiscriminate waste disposal and obstruction of public infrastructure across the state.
