The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hinged President Bola Tinubu’s prospects in the Federal Capital Territory in the 2027 general elections on the administration’s infrastructure projects across the territory.
Wike said the delivery of major roads, particularly in satellite towns that had suffered years of neglect, would demonstrate the administration’s commitment to residents and strengthen support for Tinubu and other candidates backed by the ruling party.
The minister stated this on Thursday in Abuja while briefing journalists after inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Apo-Karshi and Bwari-Kubwa roads.
According to him, the Tinubu administration has moved infrastructure development beyond the city centre to satellite towns, arguing that the visible projects would provide a basis for residents to assess the government’s performance.
Wike expressed confidence that Tinubu would win the FCT in 2027, alongside other candidates he named, including Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda and John Gabaya.
The minister’s position came against the backdrop of ongoing road projects in the satellite towns, which he said were part of efforts to address longstanding infrastructure deficits.
On the Apo-Karshi road, Wike said the project, originally awarded in 2010 and delayed for years, was now nearing completion following the revocation and re-award of the contract.
“I am so happy in the sense that we have been able to conquer the Apo-Karshi road. You know the importance of that road.
” I can beat my chest; I can close my eyes and go home and sleep with my two eyes closed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge and other candidates such as Philip Aduda and John Gabaya will win this election. I have no fear at all.
“If really indeed that good governance is a barometer to measure whether a government has succeeded or not, then we have nothing to fear,” Wike said.
