Amb. Chika Jadesola Orji emerges chairperson of Diplomatic Assembly Peace, Security Committee

By Felix Khanoba

Amb. Chika Jadesola Orji has been elected Chairperson of the Peace, Security and Cooperation Committee of the Diplomatic Assembly, an affiliate of the African Transformer Institute (ATI).

The Diplomatic Assembly provides a platform for fellows and members to engage in diplomacy, leadership, peacebuilding, as well as bilateral and multilateral international cooperation.

Orji’s emergence marks another stage in her journey as a Fellow of the African Transformer Institute, which subsequently led to her membership of the Diplomatic Assembly and her election to lead its Peace, Security and Cooperation Committee.

Reacting to her election, Orji described the development as both an honour and a responsibility, pledging to promote dialogue, peace, security and international cooperation.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled by the confidence reposed in me through my election as Chairperson of the Peace and Security Committee of the Diplomatic Assembly,” she said.

According to her, the new responsibility would require listening, bridge-building and collective action to advance the objectives of the Assembly.

“I accept this mandate with gratitude and a clear sense of responsibility—to listen, to build bridges, and to advance dialogue, peace, security and international cooperation,” Orji stated.

She emphasised that her election should be viewed as a collective mandate rather than a personal achievement, noting that members have an opportunity to strengthen their voice and translate shared values into meaningful action.

“This is not a personal victory; it is a shared mandate. Together, we have an opportunity to strengthen our collective voice and translate our shared values into purposeful action,” she added.

Orji thanked members of the Diplomatic Assembly for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to serve with integrity, inclusiveness and purpose.

“Thank you for the trust. I look forward to serving with you, and for the Assembly, with integrity, inclusiveness and purpose,” she said.

She also described her progression from an ATI Fellow to a member of the Diplomatic Assembly and subsequently to the leadership of its Peace, Security and Cooperation Committee as an opportunity for continued growth, meaningful engagement and service.

According to Orji, the new role further reinforces her commitment to advancing dialogue, peace, security and international cooperation.
