The Chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Moses Maihankali, has congratulated Christians in Taraba State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Easter celebration, urging citizens to uphold peaceful coexistence and sustain the virtues imbibed during the Lenten season.
He also called on the people of the state to offer prayers for the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas as well as for a peaceful conduct of the 2027 general elections.
In his Easter message, Hon. Maihankali described the season as a significant reminder of the triumph of hope over despair, love over hate, and eternal life over death. He noted that the resurrection of Christ highlights enduring values such as sacrifice, redemption, and renewal.
The ALGON chairman further urged Nigerians to promote unity and peaceful coexistence across religious, ethnic, and political lines, stressing that the country’s strength lies in its diversity and shared aspirations.
“At this critical time, we must reject division and embrace tolerance, mutual respect, and understanding. Our collective progress depends on our ability to live together in peace and harmony,” he added.
He observed that, as a period symbolizing spiritual rejuvenation, Easter calls for renewed commitment to higher ideals.
Maihankali also encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the solemn journey of Lent and ensure that the virtues of self-denial and sacrifice continue to guide their daily lives beyond the Easter season.
“The piety that characterized the Lenten season should not end with Easter. Rather, it should continue to shape our conduct, inspire selfless service, and strengthen our commitment to the common good,” he stated.
He emphasized that Nigerians should regard the season as an opportunity to renew their commitment to excellence, integrity, and diligence.
“May this Easter renew our faith, strengthen our hope, and inspire collective efforts towards building a more just, peaceful, and prosperous society,” he added.
The ALGON chairman further urged Christians to draw closer to God, describing the period as one for sober reflection, especially in view of the challenges facing Nigeria and its citizens.
He also cautioned against unnecessary travels during the Yuletide period, citing the high cost of transportation and prevailing security concerns as issues that require careful consideration.
