The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has mobilised key stakeholders across the territory’s six area councils to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Monday, Wike said he was committed to Tinubu’s victory because of the administration’s developmental strides in the FCT.
He cited the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission and ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Apo-Karshi Road, which he said would be delivered in November, as evidence of the administration’s achievements.
According to him, the projects and human development initiatives under Tinubu’s administration have improved the FCT and deserve continued support.
Wike expressed confidence that Tinubu would win the FCT, declaring that he would coordinate the president’s re-election campaign in both the FCT and Rivers State.
The minister assured stakeholders that he would provide the necessary resources and remove obstacles that could hinder the campaign.
Wike urged stakeholders to objectively assess the reasons the FCT should support Tinubu, insisting that the administration’s achievements provided a strong basis for his re-election.
“I am the field marshal of this election in the FCT, and we are building a coalition that will not fail.
“Whatever is required to conduct the election, we will have it. Everything that is required, every obstacle, I have already removed them, by providing what the FCT people want” he said.
Meanwhile, the FCT PDP senatorial candidate and two House of Representatives candidates for the 2027 elections have reportedly stepped down in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to strengthen support for Tinubu in the territory.
However, Senator Jibrin Wowo and Zakari Dobi, who spoke on behalf of other stakeholders at the meeting, expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure re-election, citing the administration’s developmental projects across the FCT.
They said residents had witnessed significant improvements under the current administration and assured the minister that they would support the president’s re-election bid.
