By Abbanobi-Eku Onyeka

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South) has described the passage of the Federal College of Agriculture, Shani Bill as one of his lifetime achievements in the National Assembly.

The Senate passed the bill for third reading on Thursday after adopting the report of its Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions.

Ndume said Shani Local Government is renowned for agriculture, especially rice, tomatoes and onions, and shares boundaries with Adamawa and Bauchi States which are also agricultural zones.

He expressed excitement about the feat, particularly as the current legislative session winds down.

“I am excited about this achievement. I consider it one of my lifetime achievements in the National Assembly, especially as we approach the end of our legislative session,” he said.

He added that the college would bring modern agricultural knowledge closer to rural farmers and boost food production.

The bill now moves to the House of Representatives for concurrence. END
