Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has authorised a decree that would allow foreigners to help his country in the ongoing war with Russia.
The waiver for visa requirements is for foreigners who want to help Ukraine in its defence.
Ukraine presently requires citizens from the European Union and the US to have visas of more than 90 days within a six-month period for visiting.
The visa-free regime took effect from 1 March and will remain in effect as long as the martial law is in force in the country.
It does not, however, extend to Russian nationals, referred to as “citizens of the aggressor State,” reported Business Insider.
Guardian had reported that over 100 young Nigerians have offered to join Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
In a report, the newspaper said the men, who besieged the Ukraine Embassy in Abuja, put down their names in a register provided by the Embassy.
The Second Secretary, Ukraine Embassy, Bohdan Soltys, confirmed the development, adding that no step had yet been taken to that effect.
Russia invaded Ukraine in the early hours of Thursday last week as President Valdimir Putin ordered his troops into his neighbouring country, daring global leaders who had threatened him with sanctions.
