The Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) is responsible for the registration of vehicles, issuance of driver’s license, organizing of technical inspection of vehicle and compilation of statistics, movement of goods and passengers by road.
The erstwhile director of DTRS, Wadata Farouk Dogo Bodinga, met moribund infrastructures and low morale of personnel on ground on assumption of office few years ago.
The Wadata Bodinga’s tenure changed the narrative of the DRTS for proper vehicular coverage and coordination, efficient, effective and prompt service delivery in the FCT by establishing the traffic area commands, in the area council headquarters and city centers of the FCT amongst other numerous innovations.
In a press statement made available to journalists by Citizen Watch Advocacy Initiative and signed by the Executive Secretary, Omoba Kenneth Aigbegbele and Director, Comrade James Okoronkwo, they stated that contrary to media reports, Mr Wadata Bodinga the immediate past director of DRTS was redeployed and not sacked.
Continuing, the duo lauded the immediate past director of DRTS for transparent and innovative leadership saying that “he deployed information and technology as over 90% of its services went online”.
“Wadata Bodinga established additional four vehicle inspection centers- Lugbe, Onex, Kugbo and Gwagwalada respectively”.
“Renewal of driver’s license, testing and training of drivers, vehicle documentation, vehicle and tricycle inspection which before he mounted the saddle of leadership was a manual exercise became computerized”.
“Mallam Wadata Bodinga also established the self- service portal which made it easier for motorists in the FCT and its service takers to enjoy its services easily”.
Apart from generating humongous revenue for the government, the DRTS under the immediate past management of Mr Wadata Bodinga has redefined service delivery, repositioned and rebranded traffic and vehicular movement in the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr Wadata Bodinga has become a reference factor in transparency and strong management of the people trust including the training and capacity building of the officers and men of the DRTS for efficient and effective service performance as characterized by the department before his redeployment.
CWAI, therefore wish to state categorically that Wadata Dogo Bodinga, the immediate past director of FCT, VIO was redeployed to the FCT Administration and not sacked so as to add value using his vast knowledge, transparency, track record, sound management skills and goodwill to drive the FCT administration to greater heights contrary to what the residents of Abuja and Nigerians where meant to believe.
We urge the general public to discountenance the misinformation in certain quarters that he was sacked as the FCT minister was misquoted by fifth columnists.
