After several months of consultations with stakeholders across the country and in the diaspora, as well as all organs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, will officially declare his intent to run for the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday.
Recall that a group under the aegis of North East Business Community had purchased the PDP Presidential Nomination and Expression of interest forms for Atiku at the cost of N40 million last Thursday.
A statement from the Atiku Media office on Sunday revealed that the event which will have in attendance Atiku Abubakar’s friends, associates, political leaders, party faithful and supporters will take place at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
The statement noted that his official declaration will kick start the former Vice President’s participation in the race for the presidential ticket of the PDP ahead of the next year’s general election.
Atiku and his running mate, Peter Obi were the Presidential candidates of the PDP in 2019 but could not defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in that election.
