One of the aspirants for the governorship ticket for Enugu state, under the platform of PDP ,Hon Barr.Chijioke Edeoga, will now pursue his aspiration to govern the state in 2023 on the platform of the Labour party.
A press statement issued by the Labour Party, Enugu state chapter, and made available to news men by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Ibuchukwu Ezike revealed that Hon Edeoga has joined labour party and was offered the governorship ticket of the party, based on his experience in government business.
Edeoga who has joined the 2023 Enugu state governorship race on the platform of PDP, according to the result declared by the PDP party primary committee, was bitten by Barr Peter Mbah, who was declared as the winner. by a wide margin.
Thereafter, Hon Edeoga was among other aspirants who visited Hon Mbah and pledged to harmonise interests and work with him to ensure success of PDP in the 2023 Enugu state governorship election and other elective positions.
It was gathered that the Enugu State chairman of Labour Party, Comrade Casmir Agbo, who had initially emerged ad governorship candidate of the party in the state, stepped down for Hon Edeoga to drive the party.
Efforts to chat with Hon Barr Edeoga on why he eventually jettisoned his support for Peter Mbah, and came back to the race on the platform of labour party was not fruitful.
Equally, attempt to get the reaction of the campaign organization of Hon Peter Mbah on the exit of Hon Edeoga from PDP, was not successful before filing this report.
