As part of their efforts to raid Imo State and its environ of criminals and their nefarious activities, the Imo State Police Command’s Tactical Team Operatives, acting on diligently gathered credible intelligence has arrested five notorious armed robbery suspects terrorizing the state for over a year now.
ASP Okoye Henry, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO for Commissioner of Police Imo State Command disclosed this in a press statement he issued in Owerri on Tuesday and made available to Newsmen including The Authority.
Okoye named the suspects as David Christopher ‘m’ 19yrs, Sheriff Abraham ‘m’ 19yrs, Emmanuel Akala ‘m’ 27yrs, all of Nassarawa State and Sanusi Umar ‘m’ 20yrs and Mohammed Ashiru 20yrs both of Kano State.
He pointed out that In the course of the investigation, the suspects volunteered statements confessing that they masterminded most of the various armed robbery incidents within Owerri West LGA and it’s environ.
The PPRO also informed that the suspects took the inquisitive operatives to their criminal hideout at Ama Hausa in Avu autonomous community of Owerri West LGA where two locally made pistols, rounds of live cartridges, numerous handsets, and other incriminating items were recovered after a thorough search;
Okoye assured that efforts are on top gear to arrest other members of the syndicate at large. Meanwhile, the suspects he further said will be arraigned in court upon completion of a discreet investigation for justice to take its own course.
Overwhelmed by the success of the gallant team, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde assures Imolites of the Command’s unwavering commitment towards ensuring that all criminal-minded elements are adequately flushed out of the State.
