The Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Plc, Dr Benson Uwheru said the disco has achieved alot of improvements since its inception from transition 10 years ago.
Dr Uwheru stated this during the 10th anniversary of PHED in Port Harcourt.
Uwheru who expressed sadness that despite the challenges experienced by the company to ensure efficient power supply in areas of its coverage, communities within it’s area of coverage, continued to accumulate huge debt.
He said, metering, vandalism, customers apartheid on the former leadership of the energy firm before transition are also big issues for the company.
Uwheru informed that the company is collaborating with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to proactively resolve all related power issues within area of reach.
Speaking further on the achievements, Uwheru stressed: “As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the PHED, we celebrate the transition from the government control distribution to private power distribution to the people.
“The last 10 years has been repeals of challenges. In the course of the journey we have had leaders come and go since 2013. We have the commitment of fulfilling the mandate of distribution of constant power/electricity.
“Diversity and inclusiveness has become our key lead to the transformation we experience today. Our vision is become the number one disco across the country.
“Because we are solution providers, we always try to do our best to improve reliability and quality. We have achieved over 60 percent of revenue growth. We hit a milestone of N7billion revenue from N4.6billion which was realised before we came onboard”.
He commended the efforts of the staff and other stakeholders in ensuring effective service delivery within the four states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers.
