As Governor Dauda Lawan Dare continue to celebrate his one year in office, people of the state have continued to express their disappointment over how the governor handles the affairs of the state, investigation by our correspondent in the state has shown.
Dauda who is currently commissioning a number of projects many of which were initiated by the previous administration of Bello Matawalle Maradun has in addition promised to do more in due course.
The investigation revealed that in all the local governments he so far visited for the commissioning of one project or the other, it was discovered that non of them was initiated by his government but it only inherited it from the previous government.
Many people who spoke to our correspondent in respect of the commissioning embarked upon by the government, expressed their sadness over what they termed unfortunate.
A retired civil servant who gave his name as Isah Ahmed told our reporter that all what Dauda does is contrary to what he earlier told the people of the state when he was looking for their support. “He is only deceiving us, because all what he told us he would do if he became the governor has just become a bye-gone issue as he deviated to other less important ones,” he revealed.
According to Isah, who is also a father of sixteen children, the entire people of Zamfara are now regretting casting their vote for Dauda adding that,
“We are actually and seriously disappointed in this administration because what we are witnessing is extremely contrary to what he promised us when he was desperately looking for our support. Infact a number of marriages broke up during his campaign as he was mostly surrounded by women who were mostly married but always with him (Dauda) because of their love for him”, the aggrieved retired civil servant and who is yet to collect his benefit revealed.
In his contribution, another aggrieved resident of Sabon Gari area in Gusau, the capital of the state explained that he had never witnessed a poor leadership like that of the present governor of the state.
“How can you as a leader ignore the welfare which is paramount because welfare is the first thing a leader will ensure to the led, and it is only through it that a leader can be respected and recognized.
“It is not by tarring roads or lighting the streets that we need in Zamfara now. What we need most now is peace, we need someone who will as a leader, do everything possible to save us from the present unbearable situation in which we found ourselves for many years,” added Hajiya Amina Muhammad, a politician who also resides at Filin Gunza, Gusau.
Amina also stated that the way and manner with which governor Dauda runs the affairs of the state is undemocratic, saying it is a system he borrowed from the western part of the world which does not tally with our culture and religion as both of them have taught us to give and also assist where necessary. “I therefore condemn this government for his refusal to exhibit generosity among the people right from Ramadan fast to last Eid-el-fitr”, she concludes.
