Rivers LG Elections: Bonny Councillorship aspirants support Fubara for Chairman

By Emma Okereh

For his outstanding blueprint and commitment to his local government, Ambassador Dagogo Fubara has continued to receive support from broad spectrum of stakeholders who want him to be the undisputed chairman of Bonny local government in the upcoming election.

This comes as a rainbow coalition of councilorship aspirants from different Party platforms have come together to work for his emergence as chairman.

To this end, ahead of the proposed October 5, 2024 local government area election in Rivers state, the frontline aspirant of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for Bonny Area council, has received more endorsements as about 8 out of the 12 ward councillorship aspirants have endorsed his candidature.

Ambassador Fubara recently defected to the NNPP, where the chairmanship form for the local government area was picked for him by some notable stakeholders of the council across political party line for the October 5 poll. He is a major contender in the election even as he is being tipped to emerge following the massive support that he has continued to receive from Bonny stakeholders

Recall that the former APC chieftain and Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Assembly Forum (ASAF) was recently endorsed by a number of Bonny stakeholders across political lines, who said their decision was borne out of their resolve to see a new Bonny as exemplified in his blueprint.

The Bonny ward councillorship aspirants who cut across political divides said they have studied all the aspirants who have declared interest for the polls, and come to a conclusion like the other stakeholders that only Ambassador Fubara has a blueprint that would actualize the desired development of the council

The councillorship aspirants in a statement issued by Comrade Emmanuel J. Green, Ebenezer Jumbo, Mrs. Boma T Finecountry , Comrade Ibitamuno Longjohn explained that though they will contest the election on the platform of their various political parties, they would urge their supporters to vote for the aspiration of Ambassador Dagogo Fubara, saying they are all doing so in the interest of the local government area.

They explained that it is only the NNPP aspirant that has shown real desire to transform the local government, adding that as councilors, they would give him the needed support to actualize his blueprint for a new Bonny if they win the election.

“We belong to different political parties. Among us in this gathering are aspirants from the PDP, LP, NNPP, APP, SDP, YPP, ADC and others who have come together in the interest of Bonny people to endorse Ambassador Fubara as our next chairman for our dear Bonny local government area

“ Bonny we all know is a great name in the economic structure of Nigeria, but the council has never received in terms of development what is commensurate to its name and economic power. But we want to use the next council election to commence the giant stride in the changing of the council

“ We have studied all other aspirants, including those from our own political parties, before we all agreed to work with Ambassador Fubara, who has shown us more convincing desire and blueprint to actualize our desire, which is no other thing than moving our beloved local government away from its present sorry state. We have resolved to campaign for him among our political supporters, irrespective of the various political divides in the group.”
