Breaking: Jubilation in Kaduna as Uba Sani launches skills Dev Council

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has launched a new initiative to empower youths and address skills deficits in the state.
The newly inaugurated State Skills Development Council will serve as the highest decision-making organ for skills development, providing overall leadership and strategic direction for the development of strategies and implementation plans.

The council’s primary focus is to equip youths with relevant skills for the 21st century, enabling them to contribute effectively to the economy. Governor Sani emphasized his administration’s commitment to investing in human capital, stating, “We are determined to decisively address the skills deficits of our people. We want our citizens to have the requisite skills to fill positions in industries and businesses we have attracted to the state.”

The initiative includes the construction of Vocational and Technology Skills Acquisition Cities in Rigachikun, Samaru Kataf, and Soba, which are nearing completion. Thesecentress will offer a range of vocational and technical skills training, including welding, automotive mechatronics, solar power installation, and artificial intelligence. The trainees will receive certifications from globally recognized organizations like Microsoft, Google, and CISCO, enhancing their employment opportunities within and outside the country.

Also, theremodelledd Panteka Market in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, will serve as a major centre for skills acquisition and job creation, offering training in carpentry, welding, painting, and other trades. The Kaduna State Government is collaborating with the National Board for Technical Education to provide the National Skills Qualification Framework certification, further solidifying the initiative’s impact.

Governor Sani expressed confidence in the council members, who were selected based on their skills, competencies, and commitment to his administration’s governance agenda. The council is tasked with developing a skills development framework, creating a strategic implementation plan, and coordinating the execution of operational plans to address youth unemployment. With this comprehensive approach, Kaduna State is poised to revolutionize skills development and empower its youths for a brighter future.
