Govt officials must account for palliatives provided for the masses, says chairmanship aspirant

By Emma Okereh

Anambra state APC Chairmanship aspirant, chief Ikechukwu C Anonye has warned people in government of unpleasant consequences following their respective attitudes towards the people and its possible fallout which may not be managed as usual.

“It has come to light that National Assembly members exploited the masses amidst widespread hunger and starvation by concealing millions approved and granted by Mr. President as palliative to cushion hardship. This includes state governors after pocketing extra resources from Mr president still go on with excruciating taxes.

“Their ulterior motive led them to hoard these resources until the Deputy Senate President distributed food items, motorcycles, and more.

“Furthermore, it was recently revealed that Mr. President has given 1,200 bags of rice to every minister as a palliative too.

He submitted that such attitude raises questions of integrity and credibility about the distribution of resources and the prioritization of those in power over the common man.

“I urge the National Orientation Agency(NOA)and other relevant agencies to fulfill its responsibility by keeping the public informed about government actions, enabling us to demand for our rights when necessary.

” I implore those in government to consider the plight of the common man and show kindness, even if only occasionally.

“We shall keep demanding for transparency, accountability, and compassion from our leaders until the right thing is done”. He concludes.
