The National Assembly has made a dramatic U-turn, clearing the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of financial impropriety allegations.
This comes after the National Assembly Joint Committee on Finance accused JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, of reckless spending, including N1.1 billion on meals and N850 million on fumigation.
Initially, the committee refused to hear Oloyede’s explanation and instead demanded detailed financial records for 2024 and 2025. However, in a surprise move, the Chairman of the joint committee issued a personally signed statement, retracting the allegations and stating that JAMB was wrongly accused.
The statement, titled “Clarification on the JAMB Report on Revenue,” revealed that the latest documents submitted by JAMB demonstrated responsible and prudent use of resources under Oloyede’s leadership ¹. This sudden reversal has brought an end to the controversy surrounding JAMB’s financial management.
