The chairman of Oji River local government area, Enugu state, Hon. Greg Aynaegbudike, has flagged off a digital literacy training programme for teachers in the local government.
The training, which is programmed for four days is holding at Oji River local government area headquarters.
Declaring the event open, Anyaegbudike urged the teachers to use the opportunity to learn digital skills which they will impart on the pupils there after.
He stressed that the training is meant to enhance the capacity of the teachers and equip them with the necessary digital skills that align with Enugu State Government’s vision for Smart Green school and experiential learning,.
The chairman explained that the training is organized by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Innovation, in partnership with Oji River Local Government Council.
During the programme, teachers will be trained on how to create digital content for teaching, using Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. They will also learn how to use internet, Canva and AI-Driven Solutions for teaching and learning, Anyaegbudike disclosed.
His words ,”This is a transition from the regular old curriculum to a smart curriculum that will train smart children. And to achieve this, the first thing is to have smart teachers; from smart teachers, you produce smart children. Our teachers are going smart, and so are our children.”
Hon. Anyaegbudike commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his vision in transforming the education sector in Enugu State, setting the standard for innovative and experiential learning paradigm.
He stated, “Governor Mbah’s huge investment in education is evident in the construction of Smart Green School in each of the 260 electoral wards in Enugu State.
“It is our desire that our teachers will leverage this training to provide high-quality experiential learning experiences to our children in our Smart Green Schools”.
