The APC Grassroots Governance Group (APC G3) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, over the Federal Government’s Student Venture Capital Grant (SVCG), describing it as a strategic intervention under the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at empowering Nigerian youths.
In a statement on Tuesday, signed by the National Coordinator, Amechi Chuks. Oyema, the group praised the shortlisting of 65 student innovators from over 30,000 applicants across 404 tertiary institutions, noting that the initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship among young Nigerians.
APC G3 said the programme is a clear reflection of President Tinubu’s vision to build a productive, self-reliant youth population capable of driving economic growth and national development. The group added that the initiative goes beyond rhetoric, translating policy into tangible opportunities for young people.
“The Student Venture Capital Grant is a bold and timely intervention. It shows that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan, but a practical roadmap for youth development and economic transformation,” the group stated.
The initiative, launched in December 2025 in partnership with the Bank of Industry, offers up to ₦50 million in equity-free funding to student-led ventures that have reached the commercialisation stage. APC G3 described the funding model as a major boost for young innovators who often face challenges accessing capital.
The group also commended the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, for driving reforms that prioritize innovation, skills development, and entrepreneurship within the education sector. It noted that the ministry’s approach is helping to align academic training with real-world economic needs.
According to APC G3, the transparent selection process—featuring AI-based screening and expert evaluation—further strengthens confidence in the programme, ensuring that only viable and impactful ideas are supported.
The group emphasized that investing in student innovators will not only create jobs but also position Nigeria as a hub for technology, enterprise, and creativity in Africa.
The 65 finalists are expected to participate in a venture development bootcamp from March 26 to 29, 2026, where their ideas will be refined ahead of final selection. Successful beneficiaries will receive up to ₦50 million at the programme’s awards ceremony.
APC G3 reaffirmed its support for the Tinubu administration, urging sustained investment in youth-focused initiatives, which it said are critical to achieving long-term national prosperity and delivering on the promise of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
