The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Tuesday received the leadership of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to partnerships that promote national unity, inclusion, and social development through sports.

Welcoming the delegation, Tunji-Ojo said the Ministry’s mandate of safeguarding internal security, citizenship integrity, and institutional efficiency is strengthened by collaboration with credible organisations such as LGAN. He noted that sports remain a powerful tool for discipline, leadership, and national cohesion, and praised the association for its role in advancing golf among women and projecting Nigeria on the international stage.

The Minister used the occasion to highlight ongoing reforms under his watch, including improvements in passport administration and the deployment of modern e-gate systems at international airports. He explained that the innovations are aimed at enhancing service delivery, cutting delays, and restoring public confidence in institutions under the Ministry.

Earlier, LGAN President Lami Onayi Ahmed thanked the Minister for granting the audience despite his demanding schedule. She outlined the association’s history as the umbrella body for women golfers in Nigeria, dedicated to expanding participation, building capacity, and creating platforms for international engagement. The delegation commended Tunji-Ojo’s transformative leadership and reforms, saying they align with global standards and national aspirations.

Responding, the Minister assured LGAN of the Ministry’s support for initiatives that empower women and encourage sports development across the country. He urged members of the association to continue serving as ambassadors of Nigeria, leveraging sports for unity, national pride, and socio-economic advancement.

The courtesy visit ended with a renewed commitment to sustained collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and LGAN in advancing shared national goals.
