The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved immediate deployment and assignment of supervisory roles to several members of his cabinet following the resignation of the Chief of staff, Government house, and 6 commissioners to pursue their political ambitions.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media/Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The statement said that the chief of staff, government house, Aminu Gamawa and the affected commissioners include Dr. Yakubu Adamu(finance and economic development), Hajiya Hajara Wanka (humanitarian affairs and disaster management), Nuhu Zaki (water resources).
Others are Alhaji Farouk Mustapha Katagum (rural development and special duties), Isah Babayo Tilde (local government and chieftancy affairs), and Usman Modibo Abdulkadir (science and technology).
In view of their resignations, Governor Mohammed has approved immediate deployment of commissioners and the assignment of supervisory roles to some cabinet members to oversee the affected ministries pending the appointment of new officials.
The statement which noted that the directive is part of on going efforts to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to the people said Hashimu Yakubu, Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, PPS, will supervise the office of the chief of staff, government house, Bauchi, while Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimi Zayam has been deployed to the ministry of power, science and technology.
The Attorney General and commissioner for justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub, SAN, will supervise the ministry for local government and chieftancy affairs.
Also, Usman Usman Shehu, commissioner for information and communication, will oversee the ministry of water resources, while Danlami Ahmed Kawule, commissioner for housing and environment, will supervise the ministry of rural development and special duties.
Similarly, Mohammed Sadiq Shira, commissioner for cooperatives and SMEs, will oversee the ministry of finance and economic development.
The commissioner for budget, planning and multilateral coordination, Amina Muhammad Katagum, will take charge of humanitarian affairs and management, in a supervisory capacity, while DIG Sani Mohammed (RTD), chief security adviser to the Governor, has been assigned to supervise the ministry of internal security and home affairs.
According to the statement, Governor Mohammed who acknowledged the contributions of the out going cabinet members to the advancement of his administration, wished them well in their future endeavours.
While urging the newly assigned officials to take full charge of their respective offices and apply their wealth of experience in managing them effectively, the Governor also directed them to work closely with the permanent secretaries to ensure smooth administration.
