From Cyriacus Nnaji, Lagos
The Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has charged Nigerian youths to become epitome of good character and to also contribute to Nigeria’s development and growth.
The Governor made the statement while addressing the youth on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement 2026 International Youth Conference which took place at the church’s International headquarters at Ijesha, Lagos State.
Represented by the Deputy Governor and Governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the governor added that young people must not remain indifferent to the development of the country, but should engage their creativity talents, and ingenuity for positive activities.
While speaking at the conference which commenced on Friday, August 28, with the theme, “Youth That Knows the Lord,” Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed that he was delighted to participate in the programme which involved millions of youths, adding that the conviction of knowing the Lord was evident among the participants.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the leadership of the church for organising the conference, which he said was anchored on unity of faith and purpose.
He implored the youth to know the Lord, live according to His dictates and allow God’s influence to shape their character.
Sanwo-Olu also urged the youths on positive character formation as the biggest asset a young person could possess, stressing that talent, intelligence, education and connections without good character could become liabilities.
He further maintained that Lagos is a land of opportunities. “Lagos is a city of opportunities, a place where young persons turn ideas into businesses. Be creative in your endeavours and impact your world positively.
“The state has many youth empowerment schemes. Bring your ingenuity to bear; the state will support you with platforms to project you.
“Influence the world with technology from your location in the state and make your parents and your country proud,” the governor maintained.
Meanwhile, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, the General Overseer of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry, prayed for the Governor and Lagos State.
He implored the youths to remain resilient and steadfast in faith and purposeful in their contributions to societal development.
The youth conference featured worship, prayers, divine interventions, restoration, breakthroughs and a thanksgiving service on Sunday.
