Ebonyi govt tasks council chairmen on prudence, accountability

A 3 day capacity building workshop for chairmen and vice, heads of personnel management, public relations practitioners, treasurers and Coordinators of Development Centres organized at the instance of the Ebonyi State Government has opened in Abakaliki with a charge to be prudent in the management of public resources
 
 
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who declared the workshop open
reiterated his unequivocal stance in human capacity development, and urged the  participants to leverage the training to  deliver good governance.
 
He further explained that the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda creates avenues to integrate the citizens in the political decision making process of the government, insisting trained public officers will not be caught napping on duty.
 
“I am happy and very delighted that this kind of summit is being held here in Abakaliki for the benefit of our people.
 
 
“I am  impressed with the quality of speakers and speeches that are to be delivered.
 
“I have said it severally that our LGA chairmen have a lot of work to do. You must understand the processes involved in governance and I am happy that the speakers from various law enforcement agencies will do justice to the topics here.
 
“I want you to know that serving public is not an avenue to make money. You need to be very prudent in managing public funds and resources.
 
“You must at all times know that the legacies you build in the LGA will speak for you. You must be very dedicated to your job, avoid distractions and remain focused on your mission”.
 
 
Remarking, the led consultant and trainer,  Theodore Anazodo, viewed the Governor in the lens of human capital developer, arguing that training  such as this avails participants the avenues to crossfertilise ideas and  bridge the chasm of ignorance.
 
“We are blessed to have the blessing of His Excellency to equip us with what we need to know. We need to know what it means to know private and public life, so that at the end of the day, we can beat our chest and say, we did the job”
