Tinubu signs 2025 Budget Amendment Bill, extends implementation to Dec. 2026

By Chesa Chesa

President Bola Tinubu has signed the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, extending the implementation period of the 2025 budget from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

The extension, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, followed the swift passage of the amendment by both the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29.

The development gives Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) additional time to complete ongoing capital projects and fully utilise funds already appropriated for them.

The Presidency said the extension would ensure that critical programmes were not disrupted while enabling government agencies to maximise the impact of budgetary allocations on Nigerians.

Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their prompt consideration and passage of the bill.

The President described the legislative action as a further demonstration of cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in the service of the nation.
