The Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc. (AEDC) has launched new mobile and web applications designed to enable customers to report power outages, track complaints, manage electricity accounts and verify the identity of company personnel before granting them access to their premises.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AEDC, Engr. Chijioke Okwuokenye, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said the MyPower Mobile and Web Apps were introduced to provide customers with faster, easier and more convenient access to a wide range of electricity services through mobile devices and web browsers.
According to Okwuokenye, the initiative formed part of AEDC’s Customer Service Week activities and reinforced the company’s commitment to placing customers at the centre of its operations.
He said the digital platforms would provide customers with greater convenience, accessibility and control over their electricity services, describing the launch as another milestone in the company’s digital transformation and customer experience journey.
“The apps bring essential electricity services together in one digital ecosystem.
“Customers can buy electricity tokens anytime and anywhere, pay their bills, report power outages and other service issues, and lodge and track complaints.
“Customers can also view their energy consumption, access bills and payment receipts, manage multiple accounts and meters, and update their personal information digitally,” he said.
Okwuokenye added that the platforms featured a staff verification function which would enable customers to confirm the identity of AEDC personnel before allowing them into their premises.
He said the mobile and web options were designed to give customers greater flexibility in deciding how they interacted with the electricity distribution company.
The MD explained that customers who preferred mobile access could use the application, while those who preferred computers or mobile browsers could access the web version to enjoy similar services and benefits.
“The apps will bring key transactions, account management and service requests into a connected digital environment.
“The staff verification feature also provides an additional layer of security during customer interactions.
“The apps will also allow customers to confirm the identity of AEDC personnel before granting them access to their premises,” he said.
Also speaking, AEDC’s Chief Operating Officer, Engr. Blessing Ogbe, said the applications reflected the company’s efforts to continuously improve the customer journey and redefine the way it delivered services.
Ogbe said customer feedback remained central to the company’s efforts to improve its processes and service channels.
“We are building a culture where customer feedback informs how we design our processes, improve our channels and deliver our services.
“The apps reflect that approach, and we will continue to listen, learn and innovate to ensure that the experience we provide keeps pace with the expectations of the customers we serve.
“AEDC remains focused on building a service experience that is increasingly connected to the needs and expectations of its customers.
“As the company advances its digital journey, the apps will continue to evolve, with new capabilities to create greater value and provide customers with more ways to access their electricity services,” Ogbe said.
