Two persons suspected to be armed robbers terrorizing residents of Ughelli and its environs were killed yesterday by a team of combined security operatives attached to the Ughelli a�?Aa�� Division, in a failed robbery attack along Daniel Umukoro Street, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspects died in gun duel after they had allegedly stormed the residence of their victims at about 8am and were dispossessing them of cash and other valuable before the arrival of security operatives.
A source in the area who spoke under on condition of anonymity said, a�?the security agents were immediately alerted about the occurrence and on their arrival, the suspects opened fire on them in an attempt to escape but luck ran against them and two of them were killed in the process while the third one escaped with bullet wounds.a�?
One of the security operatives, who also did not want to be named also said: a�?Sensing the presence of the security operatives, the suspects opened fire on us leading to a gun battle that resulted in the death of one of the suspects at the scene of the incident.
a�?The second victim, who also sustained life threatening gunshot injury, gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital for medical attention while the third victim escaped with gunshot woundsa�?.
