Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has commiserated with Saudi Arabia Embassy over death of the country’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Adnan Bostaji.
According to a Statement signed by Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, Ganduje was in Sa’udi Arabian Embassy, in Abuja, “today (Tuesday), around 6p.m, prompt, to commiserate with the Embassy over the sudden and shocking death of the Ambassador in Nigeria, Adnan Bostaji, who passed away in his sleep, in less than 48 hours after returning from his country.
“The Governor was received at the Embassy by the Deputy Ambassador, Muhammad Al-Bazaan, who along other senior officials of the Embassy, expressed their gratitude over the condolence visit, revealing that he (Ganduje) was the first governor to pay such visit.
“Late Bostaji received Governor Ganduje late last year, when the governor went and invited him to attend the state Free and Compulsory Basic and Secondary Education Summit and requested for the support and partnership of the Sa’udi government in the area of education.
“The late Ambassador was in Kano when the state was holding a Summit on Free and Compulsory Education, among other Diplomats from other nations, who attended and graced the occasion.”
The Statement quoted Ganduje as saying, “we are indeed mourning the passing away of this gentleman whose humility was visible for all to see. We are of course in a mourning mood. And we will continue to mourn over his shocking death.”
While praying for the reposed soul of the late Ambassador, Ganduje sent his condolences to the Kingdom of Sa’udi Arabia and his family through the Embassy on behalf of the government and people of Kano state.
He prayed that Allah gives them the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Ganduje recalled how cooperative the late Ambassador was in assisting the education sector in the country as a whole, which, according to him, “informed his viable support to the education of our people. His Excellency the late Ambassador was exceptional and extremely unassuming.”
