The Niger state government has extended by two weeks the order on the restriction of movement towards containment of Covid-19 which was earlier billed to expired today Monday so as to minimize the spread of the virus across the state.
Governor Abubakar sani Bello who made this known in a statewide broadcast to the people of the state reiterate that the new order
would allowed people to move within their immediate environment while compling with the physical distancing measures;
According to him ” All schools and MDAs are to remain closed, except those on essential services, there shall be no vehicular movement on the lockdown days except those on essential services i.e. those carrying food item, medical supplies, livestock and agricultural input;”
He maintained also that : There shall be three days’ window period weekly, Tuesday, Friday and Sundays from 7am to 12midnight and movement of people must be restricted to their Local governments only”;
Emphasizing on the COVID 19 protocol, the governor stressed that the state would continue to enforce the social gatherings pprotocols during the weekly window periods and that shops, mosques and churches must adhere strictly to the use of face mask;
He also said ” All state boarders shall remain closed and anybody found violating the order shall be arrested and forcefully quarantine for two weeks, major markets in the state remain closed except neighborhood markets, shops, kiosks, petty traders during the lockdown
He then pledged the continue support of government ìn the provision and distribution of palliative across the 274 wards in order to ameliorate the challenges faced by the people ìn this period of lockdown.
