DIG Force CID heads 7-man panel to unravel cause of death of POLAC

Following the painful death of a promising young Cadet, Sulaiman Jika, at the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Kano, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has set up a high-power panel to unravel the cause of the death.

The panel is led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, Abiodun Alabi.

The mandate of the panel, according to a statement by the Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi (ACP), is to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the cadet’s death

It would be recalled that on Friday, September 1, 2023, a young cadet loss his life at the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano, following a brief illness.

The 7-man panel has a 4-day dateline to furnish a comprehensive report detailing its findings and recommendations.

Other members of the panel, according to the statement include the AIG  Training and Development, AIG Oyeyemi Oyediran; Force Medical Officer, CP Garba Emmanuel Nzukwen; CP Homicide FCID, CP Fom Pam Joseph, psc(+); CP Training POLAC, CP Patrick Edung; representative of the CP Legal as the secretary, and the Principal Staff Officer II to the IGP, ACP Idris Abubakar.

The IGP, however, extends his heartfelt condolences and commiserations to the family and relations of Sulaiman Jika and the academy community.

He assured that he is deeply empathetic to their pains and loss; and that the Force would do everything humanly possible to ensure justice is done in the case.
