Stop harrasing Akpabio, GPMI warns

By Augustine Aminu

President General, Global Peace Movement International UK, Dr Mike Uyi has declared that no ethnic group in the Niger Delta or the south- south region can intimidate or harass Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister for Niger Delta Affairs.

He described all the harasments as a clear attempt to undermine the choice of Mr. President who carefully appointed senator Akpabio as a supervising minister of the NDDC based on his track record of transforming Akwa Ibom state during his reign as governor.

Uyi stated this in a statement on Thursday in London, warning that no harm must be done to Akpabio.

“It should be stated here that all the problems in the NDDC did not occur during the time of Akpabio and so he does not deserve all the embarrassment given to him by people who do not want the progress of the region for their own selfish interest”.

“Global Peace Movement International takes exception to the entitlement attitude displayed by certain groups, sections and communities against Akpabio.

“The voiceless and faceless orchestrators of anarchy towards Akpabio should as a matter of fact either desist or think twice because sometimes the lion that would consume the deer may not even be the one that roars”.

“Don’t frustrate him, let Akpabio turn the Niger Delta Region into a place of pride, that is what he is known for.

According to Uyi, Akpabio remains a man of uncommon projects, uncommon management, uncommon impact, and uncommon investment.

Uyi emphasised that lots of people, young and old, widows and the downtrodden, see a harbinger of hope in the Niger Delta with Akpabio on the saddle.

“It is on records that Minister of Niger Delta Senator Godswill Akpabio has been honoured as “Lion of Niger Delta” for his outstanding accomplishments in the development of Niger Delta region and he still remains” Uyi stated.
