A socio political pressure group based in Enugu known as “Enugu State Citizens Support for Equity and Governance(ESCSEG) has described the political rallies conducted by PDP supporters in Enugu North and Enugu West Senatorial districts of the state,urging Governor Ugwuanyi to decide on which zone produces his successor in 2023,as untimely, capable of causing a distraction in government business and an invitation to anarchy.
ESCSEG made the assertion in a press statement released in Enugu,signed by it’s state coordinator,Comrade Onyendozi E.Onwe, made available to The AUTHORITY Newspaper.
The group urged political activists in the state to let the state administration under governor Ugwuanyi to remain focused in it’s desire of gingering development of the state and wsjt until the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) releases guidelines and timetable for the 2023 general election campaigns.
ESCSEG press statement read,”We believe this is the time for governance and nit for politicking. Governor Ugwuanyi should not be distracted from delivering democracy dividends to the people if Enugu state with politicking. The timing rallies at this stage of his administration which still have up to two years to go, is wrong”
ESCSERG advised political activists staging in mobilising rallies for Governor Ugwuanyi to decide on where his successor should come from, to channel such energy and resources in mobilising potential voters in the state who are yet to register, to avail themselves of the opportunity of the on going continuous Voter Registration exercise by INEC to register,So they can be eligible to vote during the elections.
The group urged the politicians to see the task if mobilising non registered voters in Enugu to do so, as part of their civil obligation to Enugu state.
