Overwhelmed with untapped football talents in various communities in Imo State and with patriotic vision of seeing football as a serious business, Prince Chidiebere Onuoha has vowed to harness the potentials of the rural players and groom them to international standard for maximum usage by football clubs outside Nigeria.
Onuoha who lived in Liverpool, England but hails from Agbaja in Nwangele Local Government Area of the state, is the Facilitator of First Mahi FC (FMI), Nigeria disclosed this at old Township Stadium Tetlow Road, Owerri while addressing Sports Journalists shortly after the international football giant ended their 5 days hectic but well attended players screening excerise.
He said it point blank that the arm of the football academy”is to discover hidden football talents, groom them up to professional standard and market them to renowned football clubs abroad.
The Facilitator also guaranteed the sustainability of the club revealing that their major sponsorship comes from their companies in United Arab Emirates (UAE) and with local funds from the resources they would sourced locally.
Earlier, Mr Chuks Dike, the Football Club Manager and Supervisor of the project reiterated the commitment of the club in taking players abroad for greener pastures.
Dike further informed that the club is equally involved in an under aged football team players like Under 15 and 17 etc and have advanced plans to play in 2021/2022 Nigeria National league(NNL).
He seriously solicited for collaborative partnership with Imo State Sports Journalists in their mission and vision of producing and marketing quality national and international players.
The Football Administrator also decried the extent of politicizing sports in Nigeria especially football and called for a rethink in the overall interest of the growth and development of the game.
