2020: Senator Gyang tours Constituency preaches’ peace, love, communal harmony

The Senator Representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang has urged Plateau citizens to exhibit the virtues that defines the commonality of humanity such as peace, love and brotherhood which ultimately finds visible expression in communal harmony.

He expressed joy over the prevailing peace in Plateau North and the state at large and urge all communities and stakeholders to strengthen and promote harmonious communal coexistence thereby sustaining the gains of peace.

New Year Day Festival tagged, “Youth and Women Empowerment”, held at Jengre in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Senator Gyang commended the Amo nation for their resourcefulness and active involvement in Agri-business, being major producers of farm crops in the Constituency.

He reiterated his call on the Federal Government to address the deplorable state of the Jos-Jegre-Saminaka-Zaria road by approving additional funds as the amount provided under the 2020 budget was not enough to undertake the needed reconstruction of the road so as to relieve commuters of the hardship currently being experienced in plying the road.

Senator Gyang also congratulated Elder B.B. Nabasu, Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service on his deployment to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
He commended President Buhari for the kind gesture and called on the President to approve additional appointment of Plateau sons and daughters as the state has not featured well in the governance structure under the Buhari administration.

Senator Gyang was accompanied to the occasion by Hon. Engr Bulus Maren of Mangu /Bokkos Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, and Plateau House of Assembly members Hon. Dalyop Fom and Hon. Timothy Dantong of Jos South and Riyom State Constituency respectively.

The Senator told the gathering that empowerment of Youths and Women was a priority on his legislative agenda and shall soon be demonstrated in practical terms as it was already embedded in the 2020 Budget.

He made a handsome donation to the Appeal Fund meant to provide a platform for Youth and Women empowerment in the community.

Senator Gyang from Jengre, attended the annual Nzem Shey Pas Festival of three communities in Jos South, Vwang, Kuru and Du Districts.

At Vwang, he was received and welcome by Hon Dachung Bagos, Member Representing Jos South/Jos East Constituency in the House of representative, along with two of his visiting colleagues from Nassarawa and Gombe States.

Senator Gyang was full of praises for the Vwang community for its cultural resilience and colorful displays which are widely acclaimed and reputed.

He urge the community to take advantage of its numerical strength to invest in the education and training of its vast human capital.

He assured the community of the dividends of credible representation.

While commending the Senator Gyang, Hon. Bagos amongst other Sons and daughters of Berom Land, the Gwom Rwei Vwang His Royal Highness Da Gyang Gutt Balak acknowledge that already the Vwang Community is feeling the impact of good representation from the lawmakers.

Senator Gyang was also at Kuru to partake in the Jogo Shei Pas and the Appeal Fund to support the Kuru Community School.

The Lawmaker commended the initiative by Kuru community to invest in education describing it as the “major instrument for raising and equipping the next generation”, and supported the Appeal Fund with a generous amount in conjunction with Hon. Dachung Bagos and Hon. Fom Gwottson.

Senator Gyang and the other National and State Assembly members were also at Du to grace the New Year Day Festival which had in attendance the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman Plateau State Council of chiefs and Emirs, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba and former Governor of the State, Senator Jonah Jang among other dignitaries.

To climax the New Year day tour events and celebration, Senator Gyang attended the Afizere Youths Cultural Night and Miss Izere Beauty pageant held at Millennium Centre Domkat Balli Road Jos where he described the Youths as the hope and future of the state and nation.

He expressed gratitude to the Izere nation for granting him the mandate along with the other communities in Plateau North to be the voice of the zone in the Senate.

Gyang challenged the Izere youth to rise above inherited cleavages and prejudice of the past and join him to build communal harmony, acceptance and togetherness in Plateau North.

He acknowledged with pride the prominence of the Izere nation on the cultural map of Nigeria for her classic cultural dance troop that has attained national and International recognition.

The Lawmaker while rounding up the day prayed for a peaceful, productive and prosperous new year for Plateau North Senatorial District, Plateau State and the nation at large.
