The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a one day suspension in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination’s (UTME) registration exercise in 243 centres.
The 2020 UTME and Direct Entry registration exercise commenced on Monday in about 650 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres spread across the country.
But JAMB said it will now suspend the registration process in 243 CBT centres on Thursday, 16 January, as a result of a third party recruitment exam scheduled for the centres the same date.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, the Board said the move became necessary to avoid overcrowding in the centres.
The statement read : “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) regrets to announce that there would be no (and there should be no) registration exercise in the 243 centres where a third-party recruitment examination will take place across the nation tomorrow, Thursday, January 16, 2020.
“This is to avoid overcrowding of the centres.
“Registration exercise, however, will resume on Friday, January 17, 2020.
“The Board regrets all inconveniences this decision must have caused the candidates.”
