Kano PDP chair dumps party for APC

The Kwankwassiyya Political Movement in Kano has received a big blow as Alhaji Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi, the Man Friday of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Bichi who before his decision was the Chairman, Care-taker Committee of Kano PDP dumped Kwankwaso for Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje less than 24 hours after the Monday Supreme Court judgment that affirmed the election of Ganduje.

Bichi confirmed to journalists on Wednesday that he has left PDP for APC, adding that he was no longer a member of the Kwnakwassiyya Political Movement.

Also, a top official of PDP in the state who does not want his name on print confirmed that Bichi had since confided in them that he was taking his exit from the PDP.

According to him, “actually, we had a meeting with him where he told us in confidence that he has decided to take his exit from the PDP.

“However, he did let us know when he would be officially leaving. But the truth remains that Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi is done with the PDP. He is eventually joining the APC, his former party.

“He also made it clear to us that he was not leaving the party based on the Supreme Court judgment that did not favour us. He said he was leaving the party based on personal conviction, after due consultations with his supporters, friends and family members.”

Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi is known to be among the political hench men of the immediate-past Governor of the state, Senator Kwankwaso.
He served as Secretary to the State Government during Kwankwaso’s second tenure, a position he held briefly before resigning, at the early days of Governor Ganduje’s first tenure.

However, The AUTHORITY recalls that a fortnight ago, fresh leadership crisis rocked the PDP as a new set of leadership under the auspies of Administrative Committee announced the dissolution of the Dr. Rabi’u Suleiman Bichi’s Caretaker Committee, insisting that their mandate has expired.

The three-man Administrative Committee led by the current party chairman in Dala Local Government Area, Alhaji Mahammina Bako Lamido, has asdumed leadership as the Kano PDP Pro Tempo Chairman, warned the Bichi Committee to desist from parading themselves as the members of Kano PDP Exco.
