Echono sets for inauguration as Nigerian Institute of Architects’ president

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, is set for inauguration as the new President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.

Echono, along with other executive members on the institute are expected to be inaugurated in a ceremony scheduled for Abuja on 21 February 2020.

A statement made available to newsmen in Abuja at the weekend by Mr Ben Goong, deputy director of press in the education ministry, said the permanent secretary will use the occasion to speak on a wide range of issues in the education sector.

While saying one of the topics to be touched by the Perm Sec is the role of architects in construction in the education sector, the statement said Echono would also give a general review of the sector in the last one year.

The AUTHORITY reports that Echono emerged as the 28th President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects in December last year, with a promise to work with regulatory and funding agencies to ensure better quality buildings in the nation and her tertiary institutions.

He also promised to work hard to ensure the use of local contents and enhancing energy efficiency in the nation’s building industry.
