The new leadership of Mzough U Tiv, ( Tiv apex socio- cultural organization) has appealed to President Muhamadu Buhari, to heed to his pledge of rehabilitating the over 175, 000 displaced persons in Benue following herdsmen attacks.
The AUTHORITY recalls that President Buhari had last year promised to among other things resettle persons displaced in Benue State, a promise it was gathered is yet to be fulfilled by the President.
In an interview with journalists shortly after his inauguration at the Tor Tiv Palace in Gboko, new President-General of the Organisation, CP Iorbee Ihagh(Rtd), said the call became imperative owing to the worsening conditions of the IDPs.
He equally drew the attention of President Buhari to renewed attacks on Tiv farmers by suspected armed Fulani militia and urged the federal government to also give its support to the Anti-Open Grazing and Ranches Establishment Law, been enforced in Benue State.
He stressed that the law remained the only sure way out of the incessant cases of farmers / herders skirmishes and hence the need for its full implementation to be ensured.
He pledged to collaborate with the Tiv Traditional Institution and the Benue State Government towards seen that the prevailing security challenges been faced in Tiv land were brought to a halt.
Relatedly, The Tor Tiv HRM Professor James Ayatse has called on the new leadership of the Mzough U Tiv to live above board in fighting for the cause of the Tiv Nation.
While officially innaugurating the new leadership of the Organization at his palace, Tor Tiv Ayatse said the new leadership was coming at a time the Tiv Nation was facing both internal and external security challenges and urged it to quickly settled down and advance ways of tackling same headlong.
The AUTHORITY gathered that other members of the newly inaugurated executive members of the Mzough U Tiv are, Iorbee Later, Dr. Aese Akpusugh , Barr. Steven Akpera, Julius Tyovenda Iortyom, Innocent Anume among others.
