Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has conveyed deep sorrow over the tragic road crash that led to the death of seven individuals and left several others injured in Okunchi, a community within Adavi Local Government Area.
Currently on an official visit to China, the Governor described the incident as a painful loss, not only for the affected families but for the entire state.
In a statement issued Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo highlighted the economic and emotional toll the accident has taken on the community, noting the irreplaceable contributions of the deceased to their local economy.
“Our people are known for working round the clock due to the prevailing peace and security that have encouraged people to go about their lawful businesses without fear; but to have their lives cut short by acts of recklessness by other road users calls for concern and I urge all those responsible to prevent a reoccurrence of this unfortunate incident,” Governor Ododo said.
The Governor also lauded Adavi Local Government Chairman, Honourable Bashiru Okatengwu, for swiftly coordinating emergency efforts at the crash site. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Adavi, acknowledging the collective grief that has gripped the local government area.
He further expressed appreciation for the outpouring of community support shown to the victims and their families, calling it a testament to the compassion and unity inherent in the people of Kogi State.
Governor Ododo concluded with a call for a comprehensive review of emergency healthcare systems in the region to enhance preparedness and response in future crises.
