COVID – 19: Benue Fully Prepared -Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Wednesday declared that Benue was fully prepared to nip in the bud any reported case of the deadly Coronavirus in the state.

There have been an increase in cases of the virus in some parts of Nigeria with figures rissing to 46, according to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control.

Ortom made the declaration in Makurdi shortly after inspecting facilities at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre Apir.

The AUTHORITY gathered that the the Centres are designated places of isolation for suspected cases of the virus.

Among equipments Ortom inspected according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary , Terver Akase, were ventilators, monitors and beds.

It informed further that the facilities had an initial capacity of admitting 100 patients (suspected COVID-19 cases) in the two hospitals.

It said with six functional ventilators – six at FMC and two at BSUTH, Benue was adjudged to be well prepared for the battle against COVID-19.

Findings by The AUTHORITY also observed that there has not been any reported case of the virus in the state at the moment.
