Police arrest 6 armed robbery suspects in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command said it has arrested six armed robbery suspects believed to be members of a gang that has been terrorising Enugu capital city.

Among the suspected hoodlums were Eneh Ekene (35), Ani Chinedu (aka Doctor – 32), Chidiebere Ogwudire (21) and Jideofor Onyedika (aka Tupac), aged 32yrs.

Others are Okeugwu Chidera (22), and Sunday Okereke (aka Obere)# – 24 years).

They were arrested at Ugbo- Odogwu, Trans Ekulu, by the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) following a tip-off.

Eneh Ekene was arrested at about 11:pm on March 24, with one Keke with Reg No ENU 372 WB, which he bought from the gang.

The Keke which was allegedly purchased at the cost of N150,000 was also recovered.

The suspect led the police to Chinedu Ani and Chidiebere Ogwudire who allegedly sold the tricycle to him.

The next day March 25th, the suspect led the police to where Jideofor Onyedika was arrested with 1 AK-47 rifle and 3 live ammunitions.

Preliminary investigations according to a statement by the Enugu Police Command PPRO, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, stated that the suspects have been involved in several armed robbery attacks in the state.

The statement also said investigation is on-going to identify, arrest and prosecute other fleeing members of the gang.
