Youths across the Eight political ward in Shiroro local government area of Niger state have threatened to mobilise their people in order to embark on civil disobedience against the state following the slow pace by the government to secure their area from incessant attacks by fulani heardsmen and Bandits

Addressing a press conference in minna the Niger state capital on Monday the youths who operate under the aegies ” Concern Youth of shiroro ” told journalists that if after two weeks the government refuses to mobilize officers and men to protect the people of shiroro they would be left with no any other options than to sensitize the people to stop paying taxes to the government.

The co- convener of concern shiroro youth Alhaji Ibrahim Bello who read the youths address frowned at the nonchalant attitude of Government to their continues calls for help on incessant attacks in their area.

According to him ” May we state emphatically that in the next two weeks, if something tangible is not urgently and holistically done by Government to address these insecurity challenges, as concern Shiroro youths, we shall be left with no option than mobilizing our people to henceforth abdicate from any civic responsibilities”.

He added that “it will be immaterial, inconsequential and of no effect whatsoever to continue paying civil allegiance to Government that cannot ordinarily guarantee our safety and security”

Continuing he said “our people are law abiding and accommodating. It is worrisome that criminal elements are exploiting our disposition to hunt and hurt our defenseless citizens”.

Giving an insight with the press statement issued by the presidential spoke man Malam Garba Shehu, on bandits attacked in Katsina, the convener accused Mr. President of been over selective on the state he is being given concern over the issue of banditry in the country.

“Let it be known that Shiroro Local Government is facing its biggest security threat since time immemorial. We therefore call on the Government to rise to its biding of protecting lives and properties as further escalation will be interpreted to mean dereliction of responsibilities and total neglect of Shiroro Local Government by the
appropriate authorities”.

He maintained that the youth have consistently made her positions known ìn both the formal and informal platforms in order to make government rise up to its responsibilities of protecting lives and properties of the people of the state but stressed that all their calls before the government have not been given the desired attention.

Shiroro Local Government with land mass of about 5,015 square kilometer according to him, is
larger than Lagos state with land mass of about 3,577 square kilometer. “It is therefore, unfortunate that Government will be incapacitated in salvaging our
land” he stressed.
