The leadership claim of Minister of Transport, Rotimi Chibike Amechi in the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may have suffered a major blow, following the decision of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to recognize and deal with the Senator Magnus Abe led faction through Igo Aguma as the state chairman
Aguma, a former Federal lawmaker was recently declared the authentic APC chairman in Rivers state by a Port Harcourt High Court, presided over by Justice George Omereji, o
It would be recalled that Aguma had sought the court to declare the Caretaker Committee brought by the National Working Committee of the party as void, and declare him to head the affairs of the state by virtue of his position as the National Delegate and Statutory member of the party.
The APC NWC in a statement issued after its meeting yesterday by National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa – Onilu, cited the recent ruling of a High Court which declared Hon. Igo Aguma as the Party’s acting chairman in Rivers State.
“In compliance with the court ruling, our party has recognised Aguma has Rivers State acting Chairman pending when new congresses will be held to elect party executive members at the ward, local government and state levels.
Onilu disclosed that Sixteen members of the NWC attended the meeting held at the Party’s National Secretariat (13 members attended physically and three others joined the meeting online).
