The Executive Director (Business Development), Mr. Chuks Akunna, yesterday has announced the death of his wife.
In a terse statement posted by Mr. Akunna on his tweeter handle, @akunnachux, he stated: “Just lost my wife of 18 years, Mrs Jemi Akunna nee Okorosobo.
“She was my best friend & classmate at the Sociology dept, Unilorin.
“May God rest my baby’s soul. Amen”.
Immediately he announced the sad incident, relations, friends and professional colleagues have been paying him condolence visit at his residence.
The Faculty of Editors and Bureau Chiefs, comprising of news directors, copy editors and bureau chiefs of media houses in the country have been sending condolence messages to assuage Mr. Akunna over the irreperable loss.
In particular, his colleagues at The AUTHORITY Newspaper have expressed deep shock at the development, but advised him to take solace in God granting her eternal repose in Heaven.
The Executive-Director (Publications), Chief Joe Nwankwo, expressed shock at the death of a woman he described as “the best friend of my colleague”.
He prayed God to accept her soul in heaven, just as the Editor, Malachy Uzendu, asked God to grant Mr. Akunna the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Burial announcements would be made after consulting with Akunna and Okorosobo families.
