COVID-19: NUJ seeks FCT minister’s more support

The Nigeria Union of Journalists ,NUJ, has urged the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, malam Muhammad Bello to do more for the media by re-echoeing the support for those worse hit by COVID-19 pandemic.

National President of the union, Chris Isigbuzor stated this on Tuesday when he led other executives to the minister in Abuja.

He urged the minister to assist in adding his voice during the Federal Executive Council ,FEC, in helping the media that has been worse hit by the pandemic in terms of job losses and patronage.

Though the president commended the FCT Administration on the strides taken in the fight against COVID 19.

He explained that the union was very pleased with the manner the Administration fought COVID 19 to a stand still.

Isigbuzor, however charged the Administration to be fully inclusive by involving the physically challenged and other less Privileged groups in the fight.

The national President also used the opportunity to request for hectres of land for their proposed Journalists Village which will provide residential houses for journalists.

Isigbuzor also thanked the Minister and the FCT Administration for providing a befitting Secretariat for the Abuja Council of the NUJ.

In his remarks, the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello said journalists have been partners in progress in the Abuja project.

Bello charged the media to remain major stakeholders in unifying society.

On the request for R of O for Journalists Village, Bello said the request was not new and that the issue has been on ground so what was needed was a follow up for the actualization of the project.
