DSS releases Mailafiya after 3hrs of interrogation

By Myke Uzendu

The Department of State Security (DSS) has released Dr. Obadiah Mailafia who was summoned to its Jos office after about 3 hours of interrogation.

The invitation is linked with his interview by Nigerian Info 99.3fm Lagos, where he alleged that a governor in the northern part of the country is a Boko Haram commander and that the sect is planning a civil war in the country by 2022.

Mailafia arrived the DSS office around 11 am, with his wife, Margaret, and his lawyer, Yakubu Bawa, including several clergymen and was released around 2.55pm.

The AUTHORITY learnt that hundreds of supporters of the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Monday, stormed the West of Mines office of the DSS to witness the grilling and mounted pressure the secret police to release him.

The supporters chanted solidarity songs but were however prevented from gaining access into the DSS premises.

The invitation is the third in the last few weeks that the former Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was summoned by the secret police to appear at its Jos office.
